The Sala Ana Frank program, provides Level IV care to young patients of low income from the regions of Valle, Cauca, Narino, Putumayo and Choco, without distinction of origin, race or religion. For these patients the Hospital is the only public facility with the capacity of responding to complex pediatric cases that may require critical care.
This service is provided through two units available in the Ana Frank Program:
The Sala Ana Frank Hospitalization Ward, which has served approximately 2,500 pre- and post-surgical pediatric patients per year.
The Ana Frank Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (CIPAF), that serves around 500 children on an annual basis.
It is important to emphasize the academic role that the Ana Frank Ward provides, making one of the best and most complete services of Pediatric Surgery in the southwest of Colombia. In association with the University of Valle, it has become a hub of educational programs of the highest academic standards, for pre-and post-graduate medicine, nursing, physical therapy, psychology, ENT students and more, for various universities in the country and abroad.
Thanks to the support of private donors and companies, we have been able to provide, from Monday thru Friday, daily complimentary snacks and coffee to the accompanying parent of every children at the pediatric wards at the Hospital Universitario del Valle.
Workshops and educational sessions aim to help the family member of the pediatric patient cope with his situation.
The organization CaliClown ( www.caliclown.com ) visits Ana Frank Ward regularly. Its objective is to transform the hospital environment introducing playtime moments, laughter and relaxation to the hospitalized children, their accompanying family, medical team and staff.
